Media Hone Technician

Fullerton Tool Company is looking for a candidate to fill the Media Hone Technician position, in which they would be responsible for applying edge preparation and polishing to a variety of cutting tools using specialized pieces of equipment, tool holders, and various grades of media.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Recognize and select appropriate Tool Holders and Collets. Insert tools into the holder and then insert the tool and holder into the machine.
• Select the appropriate media, based on the size of the hone or type of polishing required, and load the machine with the media tub. The use of a hydraulic lifting platform may be required depending on what media is required.
• Based on the blueprint specification, select and activate the appropriate program on the machine's touchscreen. Enter appropriate depth and run cycle.
• Daily optimization of a 3-machine work group; multi-tasking between the three with various cycles depending on programs being run to maximize efficiency.
• Inspect parts to assure conformance to specifications using computer-assisted measuring equipment and a microscope for visual inspection.
• Follow standard procedures and work instructions, paying special attention to the handling of sharp-edge cutting tools.
• Complete all electronic and hard copy documentation required by each order. This would include barcode scanning and completing paperwork before moving the product to the next operation.
• Learn new skills and cross-train in other departments.
• Provide training and assistance to other employees on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and safe work area (5S).

Qualifications/Education/Skills:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written.
• Dedicated to be at work and on time (attendance).
• Integrity - can trust this person to be truthful, honest, and ethical.

Equipment Used:
Specialized OTEC drag finishing equipment. Computer-assisted measuring equipment. Various hand tools.

Working Conditions:
Working with extremely sharp cutting tools and media that may become dusty. Allergy warning: walnut shells are contained in the honing media.

Physical Requirements:
Must be comfortable working with hands and be able to lift 30 lbs. Must be able to stand, reach, do repetitive tasks, twisting motion and bend for the duration of the day.
