Manufacturing/Application Engineer

Fullerton Tool Company is looking for a candidate to fill the Manufacturing/Application Engineer position, in which they will split time between manufacturing engineering and application support. Provide manufacturing engineering support to the Fullerton facilities. Lead the implementation and improvement of new and existing processes and equipment. Support the Fullerton technical application team by contributing and collaborating in the R&D lab, and providing technical data for the website. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily support to manufacturing areas for product quality and process control. Responsible for process documentation and continuous improvement.
  • Design tooling and fixtures and incorporate into production.
  • Evaluate equipment and supplier proposals, justify, and make recommendations. Equipment acquisition, layout, and installation.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes and implement irreversible corrective action.
  • Coordinates supplier and vendor activities.
  • Write and maintain planned maintenance procedures and help maintain database records.
  • Active role in the product development team.
  • Support the R&D lab by running projects for customers and internal. Program and operate the machine, document results, and provide application feedback.
  • Assist with training of Fullerton FAST Academy attendees.
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of technical content for our website and marketing. This includes videos, speeds & feeds, tool selection guides, technical verbiage, and data. 
  • Work with sales and quoting team to have robust competitor cross-over data and systems.
  • Contribute as part of the application support team, helping provide technical support to our customers and sales network. Travel to support customers as needed.

Qualifications/Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing engineering preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment with CNC machining processes and automation.
  • Knowledge of machining techniques, cutting tools, and all aspects of machining data (S, F, etc.)
  • Experience in writing work instructions and or standard operating procedures.
  • Experience working with maintenance teams
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • AutoCAD 2D CAD experience.
  • Solid Works or equivalent experience developing models and drawings.
  • Strong computer skills with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications. Able to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using Powerpoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean and 6 Sigma principles.
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive, and energy.
  • Works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time required.

Equipment Used:
CNC mill machines, CNC grinding, inspection equipment, lab equipment. CAD and CAM programming.

Working Conditions:
Professional office environment (65% of the time). Occasionally required to interact with personnel on manufacturing floor with exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, oils, and coolants. Some travel required (10%).

Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit at a desk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk to hear. Light lifting up to 15lbs. Occasionally required to stoop or bend.
